On the recordApril 13, 2011
Well, it is, because it will instill a degree of confidence that we have finally been willing to deal with our long-term problem of debt and deficit, with our entitlements but also with our spending. But I want to refer back to a statement the Senator made in his previous remarks before he recognized me, when he was challenging the President to bring forward a budget in this speech he will make in an hour or so. He should bring it and put it on the table, along with putting Paul Ryan's recommendations on the table, putting the deficit commission's recommendations on the table, and putting the group of six who are working on another document on the table--let's don't rule anybody out--and sit down and one by one go through them and find out what is the best answer and the solution for America. It is time to stop the political job of picking and choosing for political purposes. We need to pick and choose for the American people. If we put everybody's ideas on the table, and they are genuine about their interests to solve the problem, we can do it, and we can begin this afternoon.
