It seems to me you ought to at least try. I mean, it's almost like, you know, my wife, one time my son wanted to know--he had to drop out of baseball to play football, and he wanted to go back and play baseball. And he was all hanging around the house all moping around. And his mother said, Well, you know what? If you don't try, the answer is ``no.'' So why don't you go ask the coach if he will let you back on the baseball team. Well, I'd say to the Budget Committee of the majority party, if you're not even going to give it a try, of course we're not going to have a budget. Let's at least give it a try. Let's at least see if we can't come up with an idea. And I kind of like Mr. Scalise's idea of this time let's try to put a balanced budget before the American people and see what happens there. You know, it was the Republicans back during the Clinton administration that battled and battled and battled Bill Clinton who vetoed and vetoed until they finally got their consent of a balanced budget amendment done. They had a route for a balanced budget, and they fought the administration until they got it there. And it had a lot to do with some of the prosperity that took place in that decade. That seems to be lost in history. Revisionist history is actually current event in this place. It's constantly changing what really happened, when things really happened. The welfare reform was really done by the Congress, but somehow that got forgotten. There's a lot that gets forgotten.…
