We are in danger, without looking at it as a specific crisis but an ongoing issue, of losing Southeastern Asia, and especially losing the one country that was moving toward democracy, which will now be lost.

I can't give you democracy. I can help you get it, but you have to have the want and the desire.

The most valuable resource any country has is their people.

Libya turned into a failed state. Another failure in American foreign policy to topple a regime and then let it go into disarray.

I wouldn't say that the United States is at fault of this, but we destroyed the regime.

The United States in my opinion recklessly intervened in Libya in 2011.

I have always believed that if the United States stands for anything, we need to stand out loud and foursquare for human rights.

Freedom House's latest freedom index ranked Tibet second least free place on the planet, slightly better than Syria but less free than North Korea.
