by passing the EAGLES Act, we can give education to all schools on proper threat assessments
I represent Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. Parkland, one of the safest communities in the country until 17 people were gunned down and 17 others were injured.
Secure the school campus, implement better mental health programs, and practice responsible firearms ownership.
I understand the importance of the Second Amendment, but how it is that we can have a hearing where one of the witnesses compares these weapons to shoes is just beyond me.
Why is that? Think about just average people who are out there who are trying to understand this issue.
The data shows that mass shootings are becoming far more frequent, and they are getting deadlier.
What we are trying to do here, the reason this hearing is so important, is because we know that there are things that we can do to keep us safe.

I would like to thank you for your service to this country and for calling attention to the critical threat from global white nationalist terrorism.
However, if that same American citizen swears allegiance to a white supremacist group based overseas and spreads their message of terror, the Federal Government does not have access to those same tools.
