“There are so many of us here in this Chamber on both sides of the aisle who recognize that the fiscal house of America is in a disastrous condition, and how we move forward when we get a new President in 2009 is going to be very important in terms of how we address the fiscal reality and fiscal challenges we face. I think the recklessness we have seen with respect to this mountain of debt, which my good friend from Ohio has pointed out is now nearing the $10 trillion mark, is something we have a moral obligation to address.”
