That is why every member of the Florida delegation opposes offshore oil drilling because we understand that it comes at a price, and most Americans understand it comes at a price.

This bill seems to be a paradox of federalism, stacking the deck in favor of oil drillers because states that want to drill can take over and drill, but states that want to protect their coasts and Federal lands face a hefty ransom.

But my state doesn't want any of this.

I hope we are not telling our children and grandchildren that.
