Bill Nelson is an American politician and attorney who served as a United States Senator from Florida from 2001 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Florida's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2001. Nelson also held the position of Florida's Insurance Commissioner from 1995 to 1999, where he focused on consumer protection and insurance reform.
Deep down, I believe that the public has a yearning for space travel by humans, because it is our nature, as a people.
In my opinion, this is a strategic mistake of vast proportions and one that requires the utmost reconsideration and serious attention from all levels of government.
I believe that investing billions of dollars in technology development, as this budget proposes, without any clear vision, mission, or target date for achieving them is counterproductive.
This budget carries forward the decision to retire the Shuttle fleet by the end of this year.

Should the Astronaut Office be involved with this certification and validation process?
We need to branch out beyond low-Earth orbit, and that's going to require heavy lift.
