Tom Carper is an American politician currently serving as the senior United States senator from Delaware, a position he has held since January 3, 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, Carper has focused on various issues including healthcare, environmental protection, and fiscal responsibility throughout his career. He previously served as the Governor of Delaware from January 21, 1993, to January 2, 2001, and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from January 3, 1983, to January 21, 1993.
I will work with Governor Bredeson, who has been on the site. I will work with Mr. Kilgore and with this Committee to make sure that this does not get lost in the shuffle.
We are going to try to do our best to make sure that you are treated fairly going forward.
My hope as we leave here is that TVA will leave with a renewed commitment to be the kind of steward that they are expected to be.
What we really need here... is a series of mini-Manhattan projects on how we can safely and cleanly use coal in this Country to make electricity.
We have about 25,000 people this year that are going to die from the stuff that we breathe.
Is there anything that the State or Federal Government should be doing to incentivize that best practice, or is nothing needed?
The technology is already there, Senator Alexander, they really are, we can do, for safer disposal.
The carbon capture is obviously going to be a very expensive proposition, and then you have, what are you going to do with the carbon after you have captured it.
