Mr. President, we are in full mode on health care reform. I am going to stick to that subject this afternoon. I have heard my colleagues say a couple of things I am going to emphasize, but I am going to have a different take on some of this as well. It is not that I actually am writing down what some of my constituents in Delaware have said to me about health care and concerns about our legislation which may or may not pass, but among the things I heard is: We have the best health care system in the world; why mess with it? I heard: What we are going to do will be government run, it will be government funded and the government doesn't do anything well. I heard concerns about the size of our budget deficits and how this is going to add to those budget deficits and make them worse. I heard folks who expressed concerns about whether we would be robbing Medicare to provide health care to illegal aliens and other folks and set up death panels. I heard concerns about abortion on demand and using tax dollars to pay for that. I heard we are not going to do anything on medical malpractice reform, and we ought to do something. I heard a lot about process, how we are going to use the process of reconciliation, the House might use a process called ``deeming'' in order to pass health care reform legislation. Let me take these one at a time. Do we have the best health care system in the world? Sadly, we do not. Did we ever? I am not sure we ever did.…
