“Mr. President, Dr. Coburn is a tough act to follow, and I am not going to try to do that. But I am happy to serve with him. We come from different parts of the country, different kinds of training, upbringing, and careers, but we have ended up here together in the Senate for the last 9 years and have had an opportunity to lead, first, the subcommittee on Federal financial management--it is a subcommittee of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee--and this year to be the Democratic and Republican leaders of the committee.
