The Lacey Act is critical here in that, if the Fish and Wildlife Service were able, as we had in the past, to regulate the importation and transport, so that interState transport of invasive species that have been determined to be injurious, our ability to do that can help prevent invasive species, these high-risk, injurious invasive species from taking hold so that we can prevent their establishing populations, which we know is so costly to the economy; it is costly to ecological services of other species, and it is really something that, were we able to take these preventive measures, it benefits the American people.
