On the recordJanuary 30, 1996
I worry a little bit when I read in the press that some of the leadership here in both houses and even the White House are beginning to say, ``I do not think we can get to a balanced budget.'' I certainly have not given up on that. I think this is the time to do it. People do not realize how close we are. We have really narrowed the differences. Yes, there are some policy differences that need to be resolved as well, but from a numbers point of view, we are as close as they have ever been to do this. I think to give up on it now would be a huge mistake. I hope we push hard in the remaining weeks of this spring and hopefully get this done sometime before we go too much further into the fiscal year.
