Linda Thomas-Greenfield is an American diplomat currently serving as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, a position she has held since February 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, she has had a distinguished career in the Foreign Service, where she has worked in various capacities within the U.S. Department of State. Her extensive experience includes assignments in Africa and other regions, contributing to her expertise in international relations and diplomacy.
However, the progress made in this region is fragile and it is at great risk.
They have argued that some of the adoptions were not done legally and because of that they want to investigate.
It has a lot to do with political stability. It has a lot to do with government policies.
We have put undue pressure on the government to relinquish these children and to allow them to exit the country.
I think the other leverage is to really put pressure on the region, on the EAC, on the AU.
I am honored to testify here today with Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region of Africa, Tom Perriello, one of your former colleagues.
We have raised our concerns about human rights violations, about reports and allegations of extrajudicial killings.
This will have a real deep impact on our future engagement with the Rwandans.
