But I think the public interest here argues almost beyond a doubt itself in favor of trial before the election.
John Bolton
The Public Record
John Bolton is an American attorney, diplomat, and political commentator who served as the National Security Advisor under President Donald Trump from April 2018 to September 2019. A member of the Republican Party, Bolton has held various significant positions in the U.S. government, including U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2005 to 2006. He is known for his hawkish foreign policy views and has been a prominent advocate for a strong U.S. military presence abroad.
I think this case has a problem that the classified documents case really does not, and that is the question of what Trump's state of mind actually was and what he knew, purported to know about the election, and what his intentions were.
It would have provoked -- it would have certainly risked provoking a constitutional crisis.
I've now come to the conclusion that indictments don't have any impact.
Look, we have to stop him. I'm prepared to get into the race to try to be one of those people who does it.
When you declassify a document, it wouldn't be declassified just as to Donald Trump, the entire government would have it declassified.
I'd urge the Justice Department and it goes against the grain to be creative on this.
