We do. I think--let me put it this way, in my capacity as Secretary of State, I have signed out more cases for Taiwan than any of my predecessors.
Through efforts to invest at home and strengthen ties with allies abroad, the Administration has put the United States in the best position to compete with the PRC in decades.
We are not demanding that other countries 'choose' between us and China--but rather, are offering a more attractive choice.
China represents the most consequential geopolitical challenge that we face today; a country with the intent and, increasingly, the capability to challenge our vision for a free, open, secure, and prosperous international order.

We will purposefully engage with Beijing, not as a favor, or with engagement as an end unto itself, but in ways that reflects our values and where we can find areas of cooperation that are in our mutual interest.
We are engaged in an intense competition with China across many areas, but it is not in our interest for that competition to veer into conflict.
We do not seek conflict with China, or a new Cold War, we are not trying to contain China.
