I am very concerned about cyber attacks on this country, which General Petraeus has said will be our next 9/11.

Maybe it is time we have stronger Federal criminal laws like we adopted in the wake of the Lindbergh kidnapping and killing that applies specifically to kidnapping, crimes across State laws.

I am very concerned about this merger simply from the standpoint of its effect on competition.

There is only one way, and that is for the FTC to go to court and to block this merger.

Ultimately competition is about choices, and the impact of this proposal on choices for consumers will be very, very important.

How will consumers be protected from overreaching and excessive profits that are at the expense of competition?

It is a complex industry, but it will be judged by the same standards, antitrust and pro-competition standards, as any other complex industry is judged.

The lack of an effective remedy would encourage, in effect, disobeyance by the Congress.

I noticed that at least two of the witnesses wanted to respond to your point.

There's been discussion here about a debate with the American people. If we're going to have a debate, item one on the debate should be, are we prepared to turn this over to the courts if the Congress doesn't do its job.

But the major obstacle that you have identified, and I think very plausibly and correctly, is the time line and the amount of work and time that would be required to litigate.
