I firmly agree that--and the research shows that when students are bilingual there are more opportunities.

I trust that... our schools should not be the place for cultural wars.

I opened with I am a beneficiary of public schools and everything that this budget asks for, and I expect that for all students across the country.

Our default model should be full time, five days a week in-person, recognizing that there may be times due to increase in cases and spread and inadequate staffing, that short term closures might be needed.

We recognize this as a challenge. I think everybody across the country want to see our children in schools full time and I think that's our goal.

I think parents have had enough of school closures due to poor policy. So, let's protect our students. Let's protect our staff. Let's keep our communities thriving.

We need to make sure that we're doing everything in our power to keep our classrooms open for our students.

At this point, I don't believe that we should be thinking about closing schools long term.

We recognize the numbers are climbing across the country. We also know that we have tools now that we didn't have before. We know what works to keep our schools safely reopened.

Our students learn best and our schools thrive when students are in person.

We recognize this and we also, part of our return to school roadmap, prioritized not only saved school reopening and engaging in social, emotional well-being, but also addressing the lack of instruction that students were not able to…

President Biden made it clear on his first day that getting all students safely into the classroom is a top priority.

We need to make it very clear, we’re going to stand by the students, and we’re going to stand by the educators that are trying to safely reopen schools.

Thank you for having me, first of all. And I agree, our goal is to safely reopen schools and make sure children have an opportunity to learn with their friends, with their teachers where they learn best.

I support states when they're doing that.

We need to make sure we stay focused on getting our students back in the classroom safely.

Let's come together around our children.

We can't let this year be another year of disruption.

We have policies that are being implemented now that are not safe for students.

To the Governor there and to the folks that are making these decisions, don’t be the reason why school is interrupted again.

Don’t be the reason why schools are disrupted because of the politicization of this effort to reopen schools.

Don`t be the reason why schools are interrupted. Our kids have suffered enough.

I think the more it becomes political, the more challenging it`s going to be for educational leaders who have worked extremely hard to safely reopen schools.
