We`re going to use those savings in order to add dental benefits, vision benefits and hearing benefits to Medicare.

Could it be expected that a few thousand U.S. troops and diplomats on the ground at the time would have been able to prevent this panic?

Were 2,500 or 5,000 troops enough to stop the Afghan people from rushing to the airport?

So if the Taliban had begun a siege on these cities and resumed attacks on U.S. troops, would 2,500 troops have been enough to keep the country from falling to the Taliban?

It is extraordinary that this Administration got 130,000 people out of Afghanistan, given those circumstances.

It was impossible for Americans to watch...if we just simply leave today believing that if we had planned better...

I think what links our failures in Iraq and Afghanistan is that they are both fundamentally failures of hubris.

As it turns out, it was not within our control to be able to stand up an American-style democracy.

My worry...is that the malady that we suffered for the last 20 years...is plaguing us again today.

These images are heartbreaking to watch. Babies being lifted over walls, to hear the stories of Afghan families, people who helped us over the last 20 years, having difficulty getting to the airport, having their lives threatened.

I don`t think we should let the Taliban decide when we stop airlifting Americans or those who were most closely helping us out of the country.
