“When we talk about who are we representing, it is fascinating, because most of the immigrants into this country, legal immigrants, people who are here relatively recently and have just come into the country, most of them support our desire to try and reform immigration. So when the gentleman says, who are we representing, it is true that it is as if the majority of the body is actually representing people who are not American citizens and who are attempting to come into the country illegally. That is what it seems like we are representing here instead of our own constituency, instead of the best interests of the country. David Letterman said on TV not too long ago in his opening monologue, he said, "The Taliban is on the run and don't know where to go. Pakistan doesn't want them. Iran doesn't want them. Of course, they will have no problem getting into this country." And he is absolutely right. Unfortunately, it is true.”
