To the gentleman from Washington, I believe that this certainly does not disallow us to maintain rotational forces in Europe. There is no provision within the NATO Charter that requires the United States to maintain a permanent military…

I have an amendment at the desk. The Acting CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: At the end of the bill (before the short title) insert the following: Sec. __. None of the funds…
An accumulation of regulations and environmental litigation have resulted in limited means available to forest officials to treat and prevent densely packed forests.
I have met with County Commissioners, Forestry Officials and conservation experts who have pleaded for strong, comprehensive solutions to combat the emergency situation of wildfires in their areas.
The stakes are too high for us to continue with current insufficient forest management plan.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for holding this important hearing on these proposals for reforming forest management policies.
I hope each and every one of you are active in making sure that whatever comes out of health care evolution, whether it is related to ACA or anything else, that some of us are pushing to reform the SGR.
Well, thank you, Ambassador, Mr. Sedney, General. I hope we don't learn that the hard way, as we have obviously seemed to be learning things in Afghanistan up to this point.
Let us talk about, going forward now, that here is my concern that not only going to be reducing our footprint...
The questions about the ability to account for U.S. taxpayers' dollars, to account for whether we have achieved the goals that we have set, as you mentioned, Representative Coffman, is very important.
What is stunning in this whole situation is the fact that we have U.S. taxpayer dollars flowing into Afghanistan.
Well, I should say how slow the command was to respond and how slow you were to respond to this issue...
I think, in my view, he displayed a fundamental lack of leadership in the performance of those duties.
What efforts are going to be made next time to make sure--or to assist the Afghan people to make sure--that there is a credible election so that there is a peaceful transition of power?
The ESA was not meant to create jobs for trial lawyers. Rather, it was meant to help and protect plants and animals.
The recovery rate of species listed under the ESA is 1 percent since the bill's inception in 1973.

What was the disciplinary record for the eight sailors discharged for hazing on board the USS Bonhomme Richard?
I just hope that, and particularly in the Army and the Marine Corps--well, in all the Services... we have certainly better leadership that ought to recognize this.
I have to say that, you know, we are going to find our way here, but I do think that is--let me tell you where that is an overreaction.
This is much more about physical hazing. This is really about a fundamental failure of leadership at the most basic levels.
I think we have really missed it. I think what we really fundamentally have at the end of the day is a failure of small unit leadership, is a failure of NCO leadership.
