Reauthorization of WIA must be a key part of our economic recovery.

We will struggle to compete in the global economy if we do not update our current system.

There needs to be a sustained effort to train and retrain these workers.

This place looks broken to the American people. The ability -- our ability to make these decisions is open to enormous question in the wake of the health care discussion in particular.

The process that Mark Udall ran... was one that I think could be a model for the entire country.

Bill Martinez will be an asset, a huge asset to the Federal bench.

You mentioned something early in your testimony this morning about the importance of withdrawing from this economy in a way that creates jobs.

I just think it would be useful to everybody if we were able to agree upon a set of metrics going forward.

I would be very willing to work with you and your staff on this because we have got to move past this he said/she said aspect of what is going on.

I do not see any way to get this unemployment rate down without having our small businesses have access to credit.

One of the enormous frustrations to me over the last months and weeks... is to sit here and listen to Senator after Senator... talk about what we are hearing anecdotally on the ground about lending to small business.

We have all learned the hard way how our derivatives market has spun out of control over the last decade.

This is a country that is built on fundamental fairness, and where discrimination is something that simply can't be tolerated.

It's time to close the wide civil rights loophole that excludes them.

I think one day in the near future, I believe the members of this committee and everybody that's here today will understand the case of the LGBT community in exactly the same way.

I've had people in Colorado refer to it as a game of musical chairs that rolls around once a year when people have to rebid this.

I do believe that the most important thing we should be doing here is figuring out how to lower costs for everybody.

We cannot legislate returns.

I think the people most concerned about it in my view actually were young folks coming out of school who felt like they were going to be the last people hired into this economy.

For our working families, this economy is still nowhere near appearing to get better.

But for Johnny Isakson, I am not sure that idea would have been incorporated as part of that recovery plan.

So our first witness, Senator Johnny Isakson, and I have proposed extending the tax credit through the end of next June.

It's one of hundreds, if not thousands, of stories that we've heard from across the State of Colorado, millions of stories across the country, of people whom the current system let down in a fundamental and profound way.
