What is the national security basis for the tariff that you have placed on Canada?

I think is a huge mistake.

It sounds like the beginning of a trade war to me, Mr. Secretary.

The antisocial behavior--even accepting that description--was certainly provoked by the tariffs, was it not?

They do not need your sympathy; they need you to act reasonably.

I think one of the roots of all this, however one wants to look at it, whatever the policy choices are one wants to make--there is a complete lack of transparency in this industry.

One thing about those one-size-fits-all places is that drugs are a lot cheaper there than they are here.

I completely agree with that sentiment and just wonder why that shouldn't be the line of thought that we apply to all drugs, particularly with respect to Medicare negotiations.

There is no issue that I hear more about in my town hall meetings than drug prices, and it is a mystery to everybody in America why the government can't negotiate these prices in Medicare.

We want all that investment here, because that is going to stimulate more productivity, which all the economists say leads to higher economic growth, which leads to higher wages.

I am sure rooting for another 3.3-percent growth year, if that is what it is going to be this year.

I would argue this. You know, when I was in my town halls during the depths of the recession...

And do you think that investments in infrastructure could generate economic growth?

Do you think, Professor Kamin, reducing child poverty in this country would have any effect on economic growth in the United States?

I think both of those indicate that we have moved in the wrong direction at the wrong time.

Tragically, we did not take that opportunity.

We have seen in the past how trickle-down economics worked out for most people in this country.

The people whom I believe this tax bill was most designed to benefit are the American middle class

That is what a Republican President has delivered to the Tea Party. That is what a Republican Senate has delivered to the Tea Party. And that is what a Republican House of Representatives has delivered to America: a trillion-dollar debt.

These guys did not lift a finger. They called the President a Bolshevik and a socialist.

Thank you. So a surplus under Clinton, a $1.2-trillion deficit handed to President Obama.

In fact, in January before he was sworn in as President, the deficit was $1.2 trillion, was it not?

We are destroying the livelihoods of farmers in Colorado because of the immigration policies of the United States.

I am afraid are going to have to shut down, and all of it stems from the immigration policies of this administration.
