US citizens are already experiencing acute impacts from that global warming.

I believe these communities are smarter and stronger than before. But it is important to note, as we have rebuilt, ultimately, resiliency was not a choice; it was a necessity.

I think that is the role of this committee and ultimately the Congress from a Federal policymaking standpoint.

I believe you attributed that in part to the private sector, private markets. And of course, I agree that the private sector, of course, has a role.

So we are really looking now for the Federal Government to step up with the resources so that communities can do these plans better in an inclusive way with the stakeholder process that includes a wide variety of perspectives.

All of this work means nothing if we don't take real concrete action to address the cause of climate change and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

The climate crisis is here. And we need to act like it.

I would hope that we could agree on legislation that would enable employers across the country to take that same approach.

Let's not engage in this intellectual fantasy that somehow consumers and employees are making the choice.

The corporations did, the employers did. That is my point.

The notion that claimants who may have a claim that is smaller, relatively speaking, lower than $200,000... would have no, I think in your words, access to justice.

I want to thank you for your leadership. I very much appreciate your willingness and ability to lead with respect to potentially--an infrastructure package that would address the crumbling roads and bridges and highways across our country.

I want to encourage the committee--and I know--I heard the comments made by several of my colleagues already on this issue--to include education and school buildings when considering a comprehensive infrastructure package.

And investment by this Congress and this committee would certainly go a long way to alleviating those challenges.

We are in need of significant infrastructure investment to meet the need of population growth and heavy tourist traffic.
