Joe D. Neguse is a member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Colorado's 2nd congressional district. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been in office since January 3, 2019. Neguse is known for his advocacy on issues such as climate change, healthcare, and education reform. He has also focused on promoting economic opportunities and addressing the needs of his constituents in Colorado.
I am very pleased to see the Forest Service has taken a comprehensive approach to wildfire management.
I find it rather rich that the same individuals who voted against the $1.6 billion investment in fuel reduction... now have the audacity to question you.
Republicans put forward a budget, and they bragged about how this budget is cutting spending, aggressively cutting spending.
I think the draconian budget cuts that have been proposed by some of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are deeply dangerous for the West.
In my view, this was an example of a way in which Congress could come together in a bipartisan manner to prioritize conservation and maintenance efforts.
During my first term in Congress, this was the 116th Congress, we enacted the Great American Outdoors Act, which is a historic investment in the future of our parks.
I want to make sure, for the benefit of my colleagues, that it is in Wyoming.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I appreciate this opportunity to examine the ongoing implementation of the Great American Outdoors Act and the actions being taken to address deferred maintenance in our cherished national parks.
But let us not confuse the public by creating this perception that these projects are only in a particular--

This popular area has not been upgraded since when it was first built in the 1960s.
I am extremely appreciative of the Great American Outdoors Act, of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the Inflation Reduction Act.
I thought that was an incredibly important bill for this Congress to pass, and for President Trump to sign into law.
I have great respect for my colleague, and my friend, and the Chairman of our Full Committee. But again, context matters.
I would certainly urge my colleagues to support the President's proposal in that regard.
If there were deep cuts as proposed, we would see some of that being rolled back, we would see projects slow down.
Like many of my colleagues on this Subcommittee, outdoor recreation and access to the outdoors is incredibly important to my district.
