“Mr. Chairman, I carried that issue in the California legislature. The issue is not just perishable fruit. I would admonish the Committee on Agriculture, we have to solve this. Every time we vote for buy American for the gentleman from Ohio (Mr. Traficant) and the gentleman from Michigan (Mr. Dingell) got a bill passed where every part of an automobile has to be labeled, we do not even know where packaged goods come from. Mr. Chairman, we need to address this issue not only for perishable, but packaged goods. Americans have a right to know where their food is coming from. We need to get origin labeling adopted.”
