I think this debate is really not about abortion. I think it is about our national security. National security assumes that you will have personal security. Existing law puts women in uniform at risk with their own health care. This amendment corrects that injustice which prohibits these same women in uniform from access to health care when they are in service abroad, even if they use their own money. Think about it. Women in uniform have pledged to uphold the Constitution of this country, which grants those women choice in these procedures. But because of existing misguided law, when they serve overseas it is taken away from them. We must not discriminate against women simply because they serve in the defense of our country. I urge support of the DeLauro-Harman-Ward amendment.
