In its report just released last month, the National Park Service labeled the land of Fort Hunter Liggett as ``relatively unchanged landscape'' from the time of the California's missionaries; as having ``no equivalent'' in terms of protected, undisturbed habitat; and as a ``rarity'' in its ``representation of cultural and natural history.'' However, because of the type of BRAC action at Fort Hunter Liggett, the land is not available to the Park Service and the Department of the Interior has indicated its reluctance to add such a huge tract of land to its inventory.
