Nancy Pelosi: “For nearly four decades, San Franciscans have entrusted me with the privilege of being their voice in the House.”

Today, House Democrats made history on many fronts. One milestone fills me with particular joy and pride: the election of more than 100 Democratic women to the House of Representatives.

Electing Democratic women has been my passion since I first came to Congress in 1987, when there were only twelve of us.

With tremendous personal pride, I congratulate our next Speaker, Hakeem Jeffries.

Connie Chan brought courage, conviction and a deep love for San Francisco to this campaign.
