“Is not being pushed hard enough, I don't think. We finally got a couple of indictments on matters that have been on the public record for a long, long time now. I am willing to reserve a certain amount of judgment to see what comes up. Based on the public record we have there could be a dozen indictments, based on things that have been on public record for a long, long time now. I expect there will be more indictments coming down the pike, but up until now it has not been aggressive. I'm afraid the trail has gotten cold on many. If you don't act promptly on some of these things, it is a lost cause. I'm afraid that has happened. Having said all of that, they can't blind us to the fact that separate and apart from the clear violations of the law which do not need amendment--they are clear laws, they are clear violations--we have now created another area that does not require our attention, except our oversight, to see the law is enforced. What doesn't require our attention because of what the courts have done, because of what the FEC has done, because of what we have done and because of what the Attorney General has done, we have a hodgepodge that results in the allowance of unlimited amounts of money coming into any campaign almost under any circumstances. You have to run it through a committee, perhaps. You have to be careful how you word the TV ads, but as a practical matter we have no limitations. That is what deserves our attention.”
