Californians are all too familiar with the devastation caused by wildfires. In the wake of losing their homes and livelihoods, it is wrong to tax survivors on settlement money that is meant to help them rebuild their lives.

I’m thrilled to help deliver $110 million to the Yountville Veterans home to expand care. We owe a great debt to the men and women who served in our armed forces — investing in expanded care for our veterans just makes sense.

I think the short answer is, I’m not doing a bad job.
