I rise on behalf of thousands of California wildfire survivors. My district knows too well the devastation survivors of the southern California fires are facing. People have lost everything, and not just their homes and their belongings…

This is absolutely cruel, it is unacceptable, and it has to stop.

In the wake of losing their homes and livelihoods, it is wrong to tax survivors on settlement money that is meant to help them rebuild their lives. Survivors can't afford to wait around for retroactive relief.
