On the recordMay 9, 2003
the Republican bill is not a growth bill; it is fiscally irresponsible for this Nation and is unfair to individual taxpayers. Only 9 percent of the tax cuts will take effect this year. It would mean more and more and more deficits. This bill should carry on with the sign, ``Deficits don't Matter.'' A family with $1 million in income this year would save 95,000 bucks in taxes. A family with $40,000 to $75,000, only $218. A rising tide of tax breaks for the very, very, very wealthy will not raise all boats, only very big yachts. I urge a ``no'' vote.
