As the Senators from Michigan and South Dakota have noted, many soldiers returned from the gulf war with a variety of symptoms that have no discernible cause. Although environmental exposure in the gulf war cannot be ruled out as a cause, many believe that stress is a factor that may have contributed to these illnesses. I hope that efforts will be made to ensure that this bill provides adequate funding to ensure the continuation of this important research.
