I want my friends out there in America, however, to know how I feel about Ron Dellums. Ron Dellums is my friend, he is my colleague, and he is a man that I have admired for many, many years. I do not know exactly when I first came to know Ron Dellums. It seems as if I have known him all my life. I do know that over 20 years ago, I was so moved by his courage and his commitment, so moved by what he stood for, I called his office and said, I want to do a fund-raiser for Ron Dellums, because I heard that someone is going to attempt to oppose him. And so I remember the joy that I experienced putting that fund-raiser together.
