the rent-to-own industry has come to this House, and they have gotten support to try and preempt States that have stronger consumer protection laws. We should not allow it to happen. It is unconscionable that we are allowing them to rip off the most vulnerable in our society with these rent-to-own contracts that are charging $800 and $900 for a $169 television, and on and on it goes. We have the opportunity to do something about it today. I would ask that we allow this bill to be recommitted so that it can be fixed.
