Alberto Gutierrez Reyes died at ICE's Adelanto holding facility recently, allegedly because of a lack of access to medical care for chronic conditions. I visited this facility just weeks ago and was prevented from speaking with the detainees to verify the claims made by ICE staff that they were adequately taking care of the detainees' medical issues. This is despite the law and courts clearly giving Members of Congress explicit oversight authorities. I will be returning to Adelanto and demanding answers from the agency that has billions of dollars to protect the homeland but could not provide basic medical care for someone who was in their custody. Until there's justice for Alberto's family and the other families impacted by ICE's brutality and recklessness, I will be voting ``no'' on any new funding for ICE or CBP.
