When ERISA was enacted in 1974, Congress made its intent clear. The law's primary purpose is to 'protect the interest of participants in employee benefit plans, and their beneficiaries.'

After all it was the labor movement that built the middle class in the United States by giving employees a voice on the job.

Unfortunately, there has been a very aggressive attempt... by some health plans to just blanketly deny medical claims.
