Today I rise to celebrate the 100th anniversary of La Purisima Catholic Church, that is 100 years of service to our community in the city of Orange. Established in 1924, the church originally served local residents and seasonal migrant farm workers from Mexico. As the city of Orange grew, so did La Purisima. It adapted to meet the needs of its new parishioners, leading to some of the first trilingual services in the Diocese of Orange County. Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in recognizing La Purisima Catholic Church as it celebrates 100 years of great service. We look forward to the next 100 years. Congratulations for service well done. ____________________
