As a co-author of that bill along with my colleague, Representative Guthrie, I thank you for including this reauthorization in today's hearing.

The Public Record
I thank all of my colleagues from both sides of the aisle for putting forward these thoughtful and worthy proposals.
I am hopeful we continue to work in a bipartisan way to move this and other bills that we are examining today.
I want to especially focus, as I did earlier in my remarks, on a program near and dear to my heart, the Early Detection Hearing and Intervention Act, to reauthorize this important program.
The reauthorization bill I have introduced with Representative Guthrie would not only ensure this program is there for the children who need it in the future but it would also strengthen the program based on lessons we have learned over…
We can prevent more children from suffering in the classroom through better investment in follow-up and intervention.
I am happy we have this opportunity to come together to talk about these important Medicaid waivers.
I firmly believe that consumers have the right to make informed decisions about the food they eat.
I am not convinced that H.R. 1599 will assure consumers that they have the reliable and clear information that they are looking for.
