We often talk about this, and what you're referring to is the deficit reduction negotiations that are going on between the Vice President and the leadership of the House and the Senate, and that's good. Negotiations have to take place. But in the negotiation, it's very clear where the two parties come down. You've described it so very, very well that in those negotiations, it appears as though our Republican colleagues are willing to put the full faith and credit of the United States--this is our worthiness, our financial worthiness as a Nation--on the line so that they can cut benefits to seniors, so that they can cut programs that provide food for pregnant women and children, so that they can make cuts in the school lunch programs, so that they can make cuts in the infrastructure, in the education programs that keep this country moving forward, in exchange for no taxes on the wealthy. They're willing to put this entire Nation's financial strength at risk so that they can reward the superwealthy in this country.
