The Clerk read as follows: Mr. Garamendi moves to recommit the bill H.R. 1173 to the Committee on Energy and Commerce with instructions to report the same back to the House forthwith, with the following amendment: At the end of the bill, add the following: SEC. 3. ENSURING LONG-TERM CARE SERVICES FOR SENIORS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND OTHER DISABLED INDIVIDUALS. (a) In General.--Section 2 shall not take effect until such date as the Secretary of Health and Human Services certifies that a national voluntary insurance program is in effect for purchasing community living assistance services and supports for individuals who-- (1) have-- (A) Alzheimer's disease or other cognitive impairment; (B) chronic diabetes, heart disease, or advanced stages of cancer; (C) a disability or traumatic injury; or (D) any other serious disease or health condition; and (2) require assistance with two or more activities of daily living (such as eating, bathing, dressing, and toileting). (b) Exception.--Notwithstanding subsection (a), section 2(b)(3)(B) shall take effect upon the enactment of this Act. The SPEAKER pro tempore.
