I do not know if I am misinformed, but I was told that we actually have no plan moving forward.
I am proud to be serving as a ranking member of this Subcommittee, and I know that there is a lot of work that we can do together to empower our small businesses to put technology to work for them and to help them access all the resources…
I think a national freight policy, particularly that includes good grade separation across this country, is critical to us being competitive in the future.
I know that unless we develop an effective national freight policy, we cannot move our goods efficiently and be globally competitive.
I represent the Port of Los Angeles, and it was great, Victor, to have you out there at the Port of Long Beach as we were dedicating the groundbreaking of the Gerald Desmond Bridge.
I think that means higher costs for our consumers. It is more congestion, more pollution, less jobs.
I have also co-founded a Port Caucus with Congressmember Ted Poe from Texas so we can highlight the importance of our ports.
I was dismayed at the tug and the line that was used to tow that cruise ship.
Statutory mission of the Coast Guard play a critical role in protecting our Nation.
As the new chairman of the subcommittee, I look forward to working closely with the Coast Guard and my colleagues to get new assets operating as quickly as possible.
