The text of the amendment is as follows: In section 132(c) of the Clean Air Act, as proposed to be added by section 3 of the bill, strike ``and'' at the end of paragraph (1), strike the period at the end of paragraph (2) and insert ``; and'', and add at the end the following paragraph: ``(3) the term `nuisance dust' does not include any particulate matter produced from mining activities. The President has asked for more money in a supplemental budget. A big portion of that is going to go to our efforts in Africa to try to stop and contain this disease.
We have a responsibility to help end this outbreak, not only to help alleviate the suffering of those in West Africa but also to prevent this devastating illness from spreading further.
Earlier this month, President Obama sent to Congress a $6.2 billion supplemental budget request to enhance the U.S. Government response to the Ebola outbreak.
