President Obama has proposed greater investment in our nation's schools because he recognizes that education leads to better jobs and a more competitive workforce.
However, when a charter school falls short of that promise, we owe it to the students, the families, and the teachers to hold the school responsible for improvement and close that school, if necessary, if they can't meet those goals.
The approach we have put forward, which is backed by business and labor leaders, will secure the multiemployer pension system for millions of current and future retirees' inputs.
It is ironic to me that I hear people talk about you cannot pass legislation because we need to respect state water rights.
