Gavin Newsom: “Trump's idiotic plan endangers our coastal economy and communities and hurts the well-being of Californians.”

This is a necessary step to protect a river that 40 million Americans depend on, at a time when climate change is driving a regional water crisis that makes every drop of water count.

I am calling this a recycled political stunt.

Simply put, this measure did not meet the gravity of this moment. The only solution is to return to fix the entire problem, not part of it.

California will not sit idle as Trump and his Republican lapdogs shred our country’s democracy before our very eyes.
