Exactly. I would say to my friend that you have to learn from history. If we can't learn from history, we are doomed to fail the people. Some of us have heard about these depressions from our parents. Look at the Senator's chart. We can clearly see what has happened since World War II. We have spared our people from the deepest, darkest days of recession and depression. By rejecting the amendment offered by the Senator from Illinois, which would have given this U.S. Senate and the House the ability to act without requiring a supermajority in times of recession, this becomes a very radical amendment to the Constitution.
