I would say one of the reasons I am very pleased with the way this has turned out is that my initial concern when I phoned Senator Reid yesterday was that his amendment would be quite different from that of the House. But the amendment that was attached in the House has the same thrust, and puts the burden on the individual to make sure they are not getting long-term assistance unless they can prove they are here legally. And there is the companion that says, not only do they have to have that, but we as the Federal Government need to reassure taxpayers that our agencies are making every reasonable attempt to make sure that the long-term aid that is beyond the 50 days goes to those who are here legally. I thank my colleague from Nevada. I thank the chairman of the committee. I thank my colleague, Senator Feinstein. I think we are moving forward with a good amendment.
