“I support drilling where it makes sense to drill. I oppose drilling where it doesn't make sense. I submit to my friend and to the Senate and to the American people that we made a very wise bipartisan decision a long time ago--and I think we should stick to it--that the fact is, it is important for the economy of the coastal States to keep and preserve the coast in the pristine nature in which it was given to us by God. That is my view, and I hope we will not support this amendment.”
