The point I am making is the Senator points out one very prominent Republican, but there are many more. I remember when I started out in politics, I was a county supervisor. The environment was the one issue--one or two, the other one was a woman's right to choose. Those two issues were so bipartisan that we all came together. When we ran for county supervisor, we didn't have a label. We ran just as an independent person. But everyone backed the constitutionally protected right to choose and everyone backed cleaning up the environment. So the Senator has described what has happened and he has used some very colorful language from time to time, but I thought one of the things he recently said--and I want to make sure I quote it right--is that it is like this Capitol is surrounded by the lies of the polluters and we can't get the truth into this Chamber. The Senator actually says it better.

Madam President, I yield to Senator Murray for 7 minutes. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator from Washington.
So I will continue to speak, and when I am done, I am done. It may be soon because I am getting a little tired, but I will keep talking for a while. I say to everybody that I am sorry, but don't drop a midnight rider on a beautiful bill…
Mr. President, I wish to thank my leader very much. Yesterday, Senator Inhofe and I were on the floor and I stated that if I felt there was an ironclad commitment to take care of the Flint, MI, problem and the lead in water across this…
Mr. President, I rise today to discuss legislation I introduced to eliminate the Electoral College and ensure that the candidate who wins the most votes will be elected President. Clearly, this has nothing to do with this past election…
