“Mr. President, I wish to say to Senator Dorgan how much I appreciated his comments, how he brings us back to the central question of why we are here and whom we are fighting for. Not only did they block tax cuts for everyone except for that one-tenth of 1 percent, they also turned their backs on the unemployed, 2 million of whom have lost their benefits or are about to lose their unemployment benefits. In my State of California, 400,000 people are losing those benefits. They also blocked other important tax-cut extensions which I don't have the time to address.…”
